CHILDREN FAQ

1. At what age can my child start tennis coaching?
We coach children from as young as 4 years old. Children of this age are usually able to concentrate and respond to training games for up to 45min. We make the sessions fun, stimulating and interactive.

2. Does my child require their own racquet for coaching?
No, we have loan racquets available for your child to use during the lesson. While it is always recommended to have your own racquet for coaching, it is important that it is the right size and weight for your child. Our coaches are happy to assist you with this.

3. Can I purchase a racquet through Tavistock Tennis Club?
No but we can assist you in the purchase of a racquet best suited to your needs.

4. What do I need to wear and bring to coaching?
Please wear cool and comfortable clothing which allows you to move freely. Tennis shoes are preferred, but flat soled runners are acceptable. In very hot weather hats, sunscreen, sunglasses and a water bottle are strongly recommended. All other equipment is supplied.
5. How do I enrol?
That part is easy. Simply click on the BOOK NOW link and follow the instructions. Our classes are very popular and have regular participants so make sure you book early to secure your place.
6. Can I enrol after the term has started?
Yes, you can enrol once the term has started, if we have a vacancy.. For more information please click CONTACT US.
7. What happens if it is raining on the day of my lesson?
We rarely cancel lessons so always assume the lesson is going ahead. In the unlikely event the lesson has to be cancelled due to a wash out, or an unforeseen event, then you will be notified via text message. You do not need to contact us.
8. If I miss a group lesson throughout the term can I get a make-up lesson?
Inga requires 24 hours notice of an intended absence and at the same time needs to be informed of the request for a make-up lesson. Failure to do this means the lesson is forfeited. Prior notice is essential as this gives us the opportunity to offer the vacated to another student..
9. Can I get a refund if I miss a group lesson?
No, we have held that spot for you and you will understand that our costs remain the same whether you attend or not.

10. Do I need to re-enrol each term?
Participants currently enrolled in the tennis lessons are given priority for the next term and they are automatically re-enrolled for the following term, unless we have been advised that they are not returning. However, enrolment is not secured until payment has been made by the due date.

11. Can my child progress to competitive tennis?
Yes, all children may progress to playing competitive tennis. We offer a range of lessons and our coaches are readily available to advise on the development of your children’s game.
